The Comet
Lesley Jones has successfully ran the Comet for 11 years and with it she brings a sense of fun to the pub with her love of objects which you see upon entering the pub and restaurant.
This is a free house offering many fine ales, draught beers and spirits as well as a good stock of quality wines.
Many years ago it was an old coaching house used as a stop off point.
Lesley gained previous experience in the hospitality business having worked at Crombies restaurant in Darlington for 24 years. She has also completed a chef’s course so that she can be hands on with all the locally sourced, good quality food she serves.

Open Mic Nights & Quizzes
Live Music, General Knowledge Quizzes and Afternoon tea Quizzes
The first Saturday of the month (7.30pm – 11pm) features an open mic night for those one hit wonders and old-time classics. We occasionally provide live piano playing for a good old, knees up sing-a-long.
We are hosting our General Knowledge Quiz Night on the Third Saturday of each month.
There is also an afternoon quiz on the third Thursday of every month at 2:00pm, please ring to book a place. Make sure you’re there for a good night with plenty of laughs and a bit of competition.
